9 Dining Hall Pro Tips
December 9, 2014
- Spices- the spices are located at the end of the salad bar and can really add to dishes to make them more interesting!
- ASK! If there’s something that you think could make you’re eating experience better the best thing you can do is ask for it! The Dining Hall Staff really wants to help and if they can do it they will.
- Put croutons in your soup. Just do it. It is honestly fantastic. Trust me.
- Try weird things. If you have an idea of two things that might be good together, say oatmeal and bacon (recipe using these two things coming shortly) just go for it. No one is judging, we’re all working things out and none of us really know what’s going on so keep trying until you find something good (same advice goes for life).
- Put honey on the biscuits, milk is also really good with them. Really good.
- Mix cereals- you will not regret it.
- Make quesadillas. Just grab a wrap, put some cheese in it and microwave it. I know many of you may have figured this one out, but for me it was a revelation. This is especially great on days when they have tacos or nachos but you don’t want that, and you can add salsa and sour cream and all that jazz to your quesadilla.
- The special salads the Dining Hall makes are really good. Often I feel they are overlooked, but they are one of the best things the Dining Hall creates. This will also make you feel a bit better when you eat approximately 12 cookies.
- Talk to the people around you about eating in the Dining Hall. Most people- especially boarders- have tips and tricks that they will share with you if you just ask. And if you have a Dining Hall specialty, share it, for everyone’s benefit.
