Brunswick Bruins in the ruins while Panthers advance to the FAA championship
February 27, 2015
With seconds left on the clock, the crowd erupts in burst of roars; they stand in anticipation of what’s to come. Minutes earlier the panthers had a 25-point lead which the Brunswick Bruins cut to three. Only six seconds left in the game remained when Bruin’s guard #23 desperately pulls up a three pointer and players scatter under the basket, attempting to get a rebound.
He misses the shot but Bruin’s forward #13 hauls in the rebound and puts up a lay up; he cuts the lead to one point. With 1.5 seconds left in the game the Bruins’ defense scrambles in vain to get a steal. Junior Josh Bunch inbounds the ball to Senior Mike Jurzynski who is instantly fouled. Jurzynski cashes in and collects his points bringing the lead up to three, leaving 0.8 seconds remaining in the game. After a time out the Bruins organized one final attempt to score that was unsuccessful.
The panthers gained victory ending the game with a final score of 80-77. The championship game will be tomorrow at the Hopkins School in New Haven, CT. There will be a fan bus departing from the circle around three, after the junior games. Go panthers!
