With the spring sports in full swing, the boys varsity baseball team has hit the diamond. At this point in the season, the team has a record of 2-2. Many games got rained out.

For the past few years, the baseball team has been stocked with players contributing from all different grades. But this year is different. Senior left fielder and co captain Daniel Solomon said, “We have a lot of younger guys stepping up and producing. This is the first time in my time at Masters that we have had so many underclassmen in the starting lineup.”

At the conclusion of this season, the team will have to move on without their Head Coach Thomas Wethington. After serving as the head coach for three years, Wethington commented, “It hasn’t gotten to the point where I’m emotional just yet because we are mid season.”Wethington will be moving on to a dual graduate program at Columbia University in New York City. He will be obtaining dual degrees from Teachers College and Columbia’s graduate business program.

Wethington said, “Every year, we have the same three goals. It’s about skill development, it’s about winning games and it’s about having a good experience.”
