January 11. The Masters JV2 boys’ basketball team hosted Bi-Cultural Day School in Strayer Gym and beat them 42-35. This marks a special moment for the JV2 team, as it is their first win in nearly five years.

Lead coach Brandon Sanders credits the win to the team’s strong efforts. He said, “I think the kids are coming to practice focused, dedicated, and committed to winning.”

Masters had a strong beginning, finishing the second period with a 29-19 score. Throughout the game, Masters kept a steady lead, never allowing the opposing team to pull ahead.

The other school, Bi-Cultural Day, has played against Masters’ JV2 team before and previously secured multiple wins, but Masters turned the tables yesterday, pushing and breaking boundaries.

Sanders said, “I was surprised to see that level of intensity out there today, and the level of focus.” He continued, stating their biggest challenge was the players keeping their composure throughout the game.

The crowd showed incredible team spirit yesterday, with loud chants and expressive foot-stomping that allowed the JV2 players to feel encouraged and supported.
