On January 2, bushfires in Adelaide, Australia spread through the countryside. Since then over 30 acres of land, 27 houses and, hundreds of animals have all been affected (www.abc.net.au).

According to Accuweather.com, the weather in the hazardous areas has improved and is becoming cooler but the thousands of animals and people who lost their homes are still recovering.

The International Fund for Animal Welfare called for Australians to make mittens for the Koala Bears whose paws were burnt due to the fires. Fortunately, the call for help went viral and now the charity has a surplus of mittens.

But, other animals are in need of help also. Baby kangaroos and wallabies are both in desperate need of pouch like environments to keep them warm. So, instead of sewing mittens for the koalas, make pouches for the joeys and wallabies. To make the pouches, click the following link here.
