Snow Powders Monday’s Campus

Categories:

Early Sunday morning, snow began to fall in the Hudson Valley. By the end of the day, total snowfall exceeded 12 inches in many towns and cities across the state, including New York City, which got more than a toot of snow for the first time in tive years.

On campus, students could be seen sledding up and down hills and playing in the snow.

One student in particular, Mark Bracun ’27, was extremely excited to get out in the snow and sled, but also expressed concerns regarding issues with on-campus life. He said, “The snow is really fun on campus because you can go sledding with people that may have never experienced snow in their home country before.

However, it can be a pain to get food from the Dining Hall and [still-falling snow] can block pathways and cause other problems. So it’s fun but can also be dangerous and annoying.”

Some teachers who live on campus are using the snow day to relax, recover and get work done. Upper School English Teacher and Thompson Dorm parent Pilar Mendez-Cruz said, “I have a lot of grading to finish doing because grades are due for teachers on Tuesday, so it just gave me the time I needed to both relax and recuperate as well as get some work done, so for me the weather just worked out perfectly.
