Disgusted: A letter to America

Journalism students’ letters to America after the election of America’s 45th president

Gabriel Keller, Contributing Writer

Dear America,

I am shocked about the election results, to say the least. I am also furious, disgusted, baffled, surprised, and sick. I felt helpless watching the election, where the states were marginally turning a blood red. When I woke up from a restless sleep, the fact that Trump had won made my heart shatter. How could 50 million people vote for a misogynistic, racist, islamophobic, xenophobic, bully for four entire years? This man does not deserve to be a representative of our nation. This is the man who wants to take off gun free zones at schools. What good would that do? And Mike Pence, Trump’s VP is even worse. He wants to use shock therapy to “treat” gay people, and he wants to use taxpayer’s money to do it! Trump, the man that has bragged about walking in on Miss USA contestants while changing, some as young as 15. Trump, the man who said that “laziness is a trait in the blacks.” Thanks a lot, America, for making my entire high school career a living hell.

Signed,

A disgusted American
