Alexa Murphy, Lead News Editor
Twelfth-grader Alexa Murphy, lead news editor of Tower, first came to Masters in ninth grade. She said she joined the introductory journalism class her sophomore year with the hope of becoming a political commentator. As a journalist, she has written several articles about new AI technology and politics. However, Murphy also enjoys creative nonfiction and poetry. She is the co-chair for Outspoken, a spoken word poetry club, and was named youth poet laureate of Westchester County earlier this year. In addition, she is a member of the debate team.
For her last year at Masters and as a member of Tower, Murphy shared her aspirations for the future. “I want to do more journalism that means something to people, and I want it to be honest and fulfilling.”
