“I came to the US in hopes that I would have a better government than the one I have in my country… St.Vincent and the Grenadines…Right now we have a Prime Minister who’s been in the government for many years, since 2001…Now that I’m in the US and Donald Trump has been elected president, it shows me that no matter which country it is in the world there are gonna be flaws in government. The mood on campus has just changed and is down drastically…Everyone just seems dreary, like the weather today, overcast. Like everyone has a little bit of that weather over their heads, they don’t know what’s gonna happen next. I’ve seen a lot of fear…I think that Masters has such a tight community that we kinda separate ourselves to an extent. I think that the diversity of Masters helps students look at different standpoints and see what’s acceptable in other countries. We just have so many people on campus that in the eyes of Donald Trump shouldn’t be in the country and we see that they are regular people like everyone else, it shows that his opinions aren’t true. Yeah. I hope that makes sense.”

Unlike Leah, I came to America not for political security but for opportunity. This week I feel as if I may have lost some opportunities…but maybe gained some as well. I don’t think I’m the only one who feels this way.
