Girls Varsity Soccer starts the season off with a W

This Saturday the Girls Varsity Soccer team started off their season with a strong win against Lutheran high.

They dominated the entire game allowing them to build a score of 3-0 by the end of the match. The team was controlling the game within the first ten minutes allowing the team’s  offensive players to get off many shots and start the match off on a strong foot.

Then in the twenty-seventh minute Sam Coffey, one of the team’s captain and striker dribbled her way through several defenders and took a long range shot striking the top corner. Sam would then go on to score a hat-trick by the end of the match. When asked about her role as team captain Sam said “its important for me to set a good example to the other players on the team.”

Sam also received a lot of help from the team’s other captain, Ingrid Hirt. Ingrid, when asked about her outlook for the season, responded “it’s hard to tell what the season will be like, but it feels good to start with a lot of momentum.”

The team is looking forward to beating lasts year’s record and are already off to a good start.
