Helen Gao, Opinion Editor
Helen Gao, a senior, initially joined Tower to grow her photography skills. She stayed, however, to write for others. “It just feels really good to listen to stories you otherwise never would’ve heard of by being a reporter,” she said. Gao, while still a film photographer who loves capturing DOPA (Department of Performing Arts) moments, has continued to love written work more and more. In addition to writing stories of fellow Masters members, she took on the role of opinion editor last year and shares her own opinions. When not behind an article draft or camera, Gao fences, plays acoustic guitar, and paddles. She has her own club, PawPrint, where they hand-make accessories to aid stray animals. She’s also invested in environmental service, volunteering and organizing cleanups through MISH (Masters Invested in Serving Humanity).
